Drives really slow
So I moved recently and park my vehicles in a big parking garage. I was really happy to get here to keep my vehicles out of the sun to prolong the paint life by avoiding UV. So finally, I'm getting to giving the van a nice wax job. The paint had been neglected for far too long and a few more years and it might have been too far gone to make pretty again, it is 20 years old now after all...
So I am doing one panel a day, about one hour a panel; just taking my time. I estimate it will take me at least 16 hours total for everything including the roof. So I'm on day three and I've noticed the sections I've done the previous days are already getting a fine dirt on them. ***... I thought it was pollen as that's heavy right now, but it wipes off as blackness.
So i get to walking around on the sections I haven't done yet and there is little metal fillings all over the place. The garage is about 20 feet away from a rail road and the train probably comes 3 times a day. So I'm almost positive at this point it must be coming from the train. So crappy... I guess I can add not living next to a rail road to my list of things to keep the van away from.
Any advice or will a nice coat of wax protect it fine? I'm mostly worried about the roof as I already have rust problems with it, this probably isn't going to help anything. Also, not to mention the little fillings are probably just going to get into everything and start rusting away... UGH!
