Saw this in LMC

Was wondering if anyone had experience with them, are they any good? I wanted to put some gauges and a cb up above, plus i could have some room since I dont have a console (bench seat)... Would be easier to install them on that shelf rather than the roof too

build quality and visibility are my two main concerns...

Had one in the Enterprise 1 and loved it. I got the one with the center console up top vs the one that was just a solid shelf. Mounted my CB to it and it worked out pretty well. Just be aware that anything you put up there and then drive like a teenager will hit you in the head when it comes flying off.

Build quality isn't bad for what it is, it's light weight because it hangs off the mounting locations for the visors so they couldn't make it out of something real heavy. but I was happy with it, and will install another one in the Enterprise 2 as I miss it.

I've had them in every truck I've owned...I love them, but they are just at Travis said. I have a 93 Chevy Van with one and my 87 F250 also has one. I have my CB's mounted on them as well as a gauge or two.

Do you have windows? if you do they have a program on them called on screen key board and you can still make letters if a few goes bad or your hole key board dies

They are great for the Old Body Style trucks, Same comments as Travis and Scott Show,..;Really

Still want to get one for Droopy.

They Suck for 99 and Super Duty's, the sit too low and block the vision. I had one installed for about a Day and took it out.

My truck came with one in it- it was the model that did not have the visors mounted to the bottom of it. I didn't like not having visors, plus the shelf thingy was almost directly in my line of sight so I removed it and put in regular visors. I still have it sitting in my garage.

I'm happy to see they are still available. I like them, but I usually re-enforce them in the middle with an additional fabricated bracket.

I've been thinking about building me one. Saw one the other day in a advertisement with a built in rifle or shot gun holder! Keeps it tucked away but legally not concealed.

I'm not a lawyer but I would really watch it as far as considering a rifle or shotgun in one to be un-concealed. You may think its open carry, I may agree with you, but cops like to interpret laws their way and a judge might do the same thing. It depends on your state, most consider open carry to be in plain view to a normal person. I wouldn't consider on top of a shelf plain view anyway.

How is the one shown constructed. I have a homeade one and my main issue isn't that its too weak - its that its too strong and I'm afraid my head might make painful or even deadly contact with it in an accident. I've been wanting do design some sort of break away points for such an event but if this has it it might be the ticket.

Here in Oregon, $100 and a Saturday afternoon gets you a concealed weapons permit, then you don't have to worry about it (unless your criminal background check comes up dirty).
I never thought of the "in case of wreck" scenario. I suppose if the seat belt does it's job, your head shouldn't be able to contact it. But not building it hell for stout - or at least putting a rounded edge and some form of padding on it - would probably be a good idea.

Dont reach under my seat:D

The laws arent very harsh around here, but i guess that mostly because we dont go around playing war, we for the most part act like we have sense

As long as there is a hunting season going on (coyote is year round) any weapon that is used to hunt game usually can be carried around without a permit and they wont say much of nothing,

But if its a pistol they will write a ticket if you dont have a permit, but you can get one and they will throw it out of court

I've wanted one, but with my seat setup I sit to high and I worry about it blocking my view. How far down do they sit?
