The DS uppipe works fine on the old non gated Banks setups, no reason it won't work on a homebrew setup.
I hate seeing that x turbo is capable of making y boost, yes a HX35 can make 30+ psi on a 5.9 Cummins, BUT, boost is a measurement of flow in excess of what the engine normally would move on it's own. A turbo is capable of flow, not boost, what that flow is in excess of what the engine normally would move is what boost is a measurement of.
A 6.9 at 3750 rpm is moving 387.37CFM n/a, to get 20 psi we need 914 cfm. My Cummins at 3200 rpm will push 34 psi(Stock Intercooled H1C.) At 3200 rpm, if n/a it would only be moving 282.54 cfm, at 34 psi of boost it's moving 936 CFM, feeding that 936 CFM into a 6.9 would give us around 20.75 psi at 3750 rpm.

im gathering parts for installing one now its a great turbo for these motors
im going to remote mount it
and im going to put up a parts list for mysetup when done
but my ip taking a crap so taht needs swapped first
i plan to run 17 to start then up psi till i feel good
17 is stock wg settings
but the 17 is more and quicker boost than an ats or banks kit
also i wouldnt do it to a reilable truck till others have cause of the issues im expecting like headgaskets where its mounted
remote oil feed
and that crap

so anyway once its together well be set and i can start selling them if anyone is interested

So Hx35's have T4 mounts? Same as mine. Will they bolt up to a 093 pedistal???

So many questions. If they can do it, I would probably put one in there.

This is what concerns me. I buy a Hx35, and rebuild it. I go to put it onto the stock mount and:

A.) It wont fit correctly onto the exhaust up-pipe.
B.) It wont bolt up to the turbo pedistal
C.) Compressor clearance issues with the injector lines
D.) Any other clearance issue.

If it wont bolt onto the pedistal, how would one mount it? Thats the key factor to me. If it bolts to the exhaust flange, and the pedistal, I will be the guinea pig ;Sweet

Get a used one, and try it before you sink the money on rebuilding it. It will take longer, and be allot more work (unless it doesn't work, than its the same amount, you just don't have to pay for the rebuild.) Than let everyone know if it works!!!

Also, I would think you could make a pedistal adapter/spacer that would raise it up a touch. Thats kinda two birds with one stone.

the only thing that is different in the hx35 is the vband. its has a tad bit of a smaller lip even though it is a 3" outlet. i am comparing to my banks setup. not sure what ats and hypermax have. The flange is the same, the inlet for the hx35 is larger than the banks turbo so there is another issue.

Cold side it hot side inlet?

And ATS uses a stupid slip in downpipe with no clamps, so a downpipe would be in order. This sounds semi-promissing.

exhaust outlet, the lip on the vband is just a bit thinner. it may clamp up fine im just giving the side by side comparison of the two chargers as i have both. the output on the compressor side has a bit of a lip that the banks doesnt but thats easy to fix.

as a side note, the compressor side of the banks turbo will interchange with the compressor of the hx35.

Thats some pretty good info there.

Bit off topic, but what do you think about the idea of a water cooled center section for these turbos? I have a couple T3 center sections that seem to fit my 088 parts.

im not a real big fan of water cooled turbos, oil in water is bad and a seal in a turbo can go without notice. In extreme application water cooled is a must but, at that stage you are tearing everything down after a run. I havent seen a street application yet that strained the limits of oil cooling in a turbo, atleast in a proper setup that is.

All the Chrysler 2.2 and 2.5 turbos were liquid cooled as well.

Well I might just go HX35 hunting shortly.

What cm housing should we be looking at? And which trucks have them? Stock wastegate opens when?

This will be a nice upgrade if it works.

Wait a second, banks compressor is the same size? We know they aren't that effeciwnt past 12psi.....

Which in my sense would tell me the HX would be out of it's efficiency as well

hx compressor is bigger, the housing will fit onto a banks charger.
