So, my buddy has a 95 Di that had a fuel leak, not sure where, but as his friend had taken it back from the airport and tried to start it back up later in the day, it had dead batteries, jump started it and it caught fire. Burned up the engine compartment pretty good.

He wan't me to get it back mobile again as he just put in a freshly rebuilt automatic transmission.
Haven't seen it yet as he's in Kansas City thru next week so I don't know haow bad it got cooked and he's gonna truck it over when he gets back in town.

Is this thing gonna be a worth while venture or a big headache.

If not, anybody have parts?

I know the wireharness and anything meltable will have to be replaced.

Anything else to look out for?

Talk about a fire sale :D

Was the eng running when it caught fire.....and if so what was used to extinguish it?

Was the air filter/inlet tube in place? How far did the flames spread in the eng bay?

may as well just unbolt the harness block at the firewall and power distribution box by the master cyl and find a donor.

When my pops got in a fender bender in his 99, the body shop let him keep the front clip of their parts truck. I can check if it has the wiring harness if it will work... But I have a feeling that the difference in years might be a problem.

Also, see this thread...

Not yer typical sale eh Geo?:D

Not sure and those are questions I do intend to ask.

I do know the fire department got called as it caught the yard on fire since the gound is dry round these parts.

I sure hope they didn't use dry chem and give it a shot, especially if it was still running. If so............Boat anchor baby!

I do intend to get some pics and post up as soon as I get my grubby little paws on it and post up the carnage.;Sweet

Not sure how many 95 DI's are sitting in the pick n pulls tho since I'm stuck with parts from that year. Correct?

Ron there's a guy on PS.org parting out a 96 250 that was hit hard in the nose. Might be able to get a harness if needed.

Well better start shoppin Geo. I'm gonna drag it home Friday unless something changes.

On an update, it was not running when it caught fire and the only extinguishing agent used was good ole H2O.;Sweet

I'll take some pretty lil pics when I get it to share the carnage.
Of course for traditions sake, it WILL be towed by an IDI.:D
