So the headlights are no good IMO. Good old fashioned sealed beams always seem to work better, at least than old style composites.

I always liked the look of the ?'98? and later cheapo work truck sealed beam setup:

So, I looked for some aftermarket stuff, and OF COURSE found nothing.

I did see a picture for aftermarket grills, and I doctored it up some to show what I am imagining some sealed beams in a '87-'91 might look like.

I like it! Now you need to fab up a kit to do the conversion so I can get rid of those crappy plastic lights on my '91's.;Sweet

As I have said before, I like the looks of my 87 as well as any - no thanks on the "fix". I have new plastic units in mine and if I can get 10+ out of them, I will just replace them and keep the "brick" look until she falls apart!!!

I don't get it... are you looking for clear sealed beam lights for your truck?

Don't get me wrong, I am one of the few that actually likes the "brick nose" era the most, but then I like Volvo's too. I just don't like the big yellow lights. Err I mean plastic lenses. Wonder if they made any glass German spec ones...

Eric. The '87-'91 didn't offer a sealed beam setup. So I was just photoshoping in what a sealed beam setup might look like. Regular sealed beam on the left, ricer type on the right.

I love all the 80-96/7 F series, but the 87-91s headlights are horrid LOL. i know a new pair that are clear would look 10x better then what i currently have but the yellowed/dulled ones really degraded the apperance of my truck.

Ford of Australia did just what you propose. I don't know how easy/expensive it would be to get the parts, but, they had sealed beams in their 87+ trucks.

sle2115 - where did you get your new lights?

The plastic lens do stink. A few weeks ago I tried Mequiar's PlastX, it seemed a little quicker and easier than straight buffing compound. Mine are now clear enough that I can see the inside is cloudy.

GREAT! I know a couple of people in New Zealand, and I asked him to take a look for me. He doesn't really know what he's looking for since he is a stroker LOL.

Were they all that way, so it will be an easy find?
Any chance you have actually SEEN at least a pic of one?

seems they were on all 88-92 (aussies run one year behind us on body style changes).

aussie lights, e-code?

I'd check that the aussie lights aren't focused like the european lights. Because if they are, the fact that the aussies drive on the other side of the road, will give you lights that are really good at blinding drivers but don't illuminate street signs-cuss.

I alway's found the 87-96 headlights to be very bright compared to the sealed beams. I polished mine but I need to get some new ones as the moisture is getting in.
