I’ll pull the shaft tonight and check to see if the joints are seized.

If so I’ll replace the joints. And put it back exactly how it came out to see if it goes away. If not, pull the shaft and take to driveline shop.

Other thoughts are too look for a balance weight that fell off, and put the wheels in the air and watch it turn....

They took me for a ride, $45/ea. That seemed really high as RA was $25 + shipping
For the Spicer that doesn't sound all that bad to me. Pretty sure I usually pay somewhere around $35 for the precision, which have gone completely to crap in the last 15 years. I'm usually lucky to get a couple years out of them.

I used moog joints when I did mine. They were cheap on rockauto but expensive locally. $45 sounds about right unfortunately.

I don't think it's far out of line. Their parts store likely billed out $45 list - less his shop discount. Then you get billed the list price. Common practice.

Rockuto has some of the lowest prices anywhere, available to anyone.

The shiny spot on the yoke does not grab finger nail. Happily slid further into the trans without issue (not stuck)

Now let’s talk about the rear..... ends in the shaft turned freely. Ends in the pinion were physically stuck until I gave them a good twist by hand. Grease on one cap smells like it’s been hot, and is much darker in color.

Hot one above

Non hot above.

Also the non hot still has grease in it, hot one has no extra.

So questions:
I think they are original, swap both, or just the pinion side? Stupidity tells me that’s a stupid question....

Pinion end came out well, ball joint press worked awesome!!

1350 joints are too big. Back to parts store (1-hour drive) tomorrow after church.

Never mind, Carquest is closed on Sundays. My choices, NAPA, Autozone, or O’rielly’s.....which one would you go to?

Truthfully if the front one is still tight and moves smooth both directions, I wouldn't touch it.

Spicer Life Series (SPL) U-Joint - 5-7438X

That is the right size joint. Cap sizes are 1.062/1.125, which my old one measured out at.

Oriellys had one in stock, $41. Picking up tomorrow after church. Hopefully I’ll get it all done and take for a test drive tomorrow. Monday I start shift.

I had such bad luck with those lubed for life spicers when they first came out that they were giving me a couple to take on a trip before I would leave. Hopefully they're better. Spicer used to be the Cadillac of u-joints. I'm having much better luck with SKF brand from Napa.
Oh and I always use greaseable.
They built the driveline with the sealed ones in it when I had it done that's the only reason they were in there I use hydrox paint grease to grease my u-joints and wheel bearings front wheel bearings are 14 years old 130,000 mi and the Grease still looks new

Well, I am pleased and discouraged.

Rear Ujoint replacement went smoothly. I went extra slow, quiet, and methodical. Enough so that about 25 big horn sheep slowly circled me over the course of 30 minutes. They were comfortable enough that some would lay down.

That photo was taken after I cooked supper and they were leaving. Much much closer otherwise. No old/big rams but a couple well on their way.

Back to the program, took it for a spin!! Man it’s so dang smooth, it cured vibes I didn’t even know I had. But it didn’t cure the one I was after
