I'm trying to track down something on Diego. You can feel it in the floor going down the road, almost like loose shock bolts, but they're tight.

I couldn't see any play while moving the tire by hand with the passenger side off the ground. Wheel bearing was slightly loose but I can't imagine that being the issue.

Passenger front tire is feathering on the inside slightly. Could sway bar link bushings make a noticable rattle feeling? They are in pretty rough shape. There's no looseness in the steering, at least not unusually loose, doesn't feel bad at all. Backing into parking spaces the tires don't angle funny like some people have issues with. What am I missing?

Yes they will rattle when worn out. May try tightening the bolts at the frame links. May want to add a steering link damper for that tire wear.

I can't help but think that tire wear has to be the result of something else though, right?

There's a decent amount of slop in the sway bar links. Florida heat hasn't done them any favors! I'll order some in a week or two. I'll need to track down new bumpstops before too long as well.

I put a stabilizer on mine but I do have king pins & sway bars. Maybe a ball joint on that side worn some.

on 2wd check the radius arm bushings that may be the culprit, the other thing i have run into on obs truck is the fender bolts by the hood hinge being loose, but that would not affect tire wear

I believe those were already replaced but I'll double check them to be certain. Fender bolts were loose when I got it, but have since been fixed.

Does the rattle go away when you step on the brakes? I've seen the caliper and steering knuckle surfaces wear enough to cause the calipers to rattle quite loudly, but it disappears instantly when you step on the brakes. Replacing the rubber cored slide pins will stop it temporarily but I've had to build the surfaces back up by welding and grinding them to eliminate the excessive clearance and stop the rattle.

Beat me to it. Front calipers on my clapped out exploder rattle like crazy. Spent hours checking stuff until one day I hit the brakes on a bumpy road with the window down and noticed it instantly went away.

I guess I should clarify a little more. It's not a rattle that's audible, it's more of a subtle vibration. Literally feels like a loose shock bolt pounding away, but it's not a vibration like wheel balance or anything, not causing any shimmy or wobble.

The main concern was if it was a loose tie rod or something that was going to give out, but they're all tight so it's not that.
