Unless you run into insurmountable driveshaft issues (slip yoke versus fixed yoke) your transfer case from the older truck should bolt right into the newer driveline. Then that would let your 87 speedo work and I think it would be worth the trouble.

The PSOM module takes the raw signal from the sensor in the rearend, and then modifies this signal and then sends it to the engine/tranny computer, the ABS module, the cruise control module, and anything else that needed it. A lot of unnecessary complication that you would not need in your earlier wiring harness.

Appreciate the responses, ya the more I look into it the more I realize how much of a headache this will be as I will clearly need the later dash wiring. I’m thinking I’m gonna go with the Baumann controller as long as it’s not going to take months to get to me... I’ll give them a call in the morning.

I will probably swap transfer cases once I have my tranny squared away. They do have different style yokes, but I have the other driveshaft and should just need shortened as long as I use the E4OD.

I also checked the wreckers for an earlier harness, they didn’t have anything of use to me other than a 5 speed if I choose to go that route but still wanted pretty good money for it.

Another reason I want to run an auto.. just finished up this cool derby style shifter haha. I plan to incorporate some sort of park lockout but this will get it in and out of the shop for now.

Well, spoke with Baumann controls and looks like it should be shipping out on the 31st, so hopefully have it in a couple weeks from now. Unfortunately it’s pretty much the only thing stopping me from being able to drive it.

Changed the name of the thread as I will just use this to post progress pics and whatnot.

Got the front end back together today and was able to pull out of the shop under its own power for the first time.

Have you moved it yet in this picture? Or did you just sit it down off the jacks and took the picture? It will look like that if you just sit it down, but if you have just pulled it in, looks like you have lifted it beyond what the dropped pivot brackets are designed for.

May as well spring for an RSK while you're at it lol
Ya I suppose with the 92 frame that’ll definitely be an option.

Ya I pulled it out and back in, I’ve got adjustable ball joint cams but just set them at 0. Hoping the few degrees of adjustment will be enough to straighten it out.

There is not much adjustment with those cams. And be warned they also are supposed to adjust the caster as well as the camber. Hope you get it in.

They claimed 3.2 degrees of adjustment but would be nice to save some for caster. Worst case is I’ll have to adjust my spring pack...

Decided to go ahead and swap transfer cases today. Bolts right in but will have to use the 87 rear driveshaft for the fixed yolk and shorten it 6”. Shifter linkage will also need lengthened a bit. The front shaft is the right length but probably requires a cross over u joint at the t case. I was able to use the caps off the 87 shaft, not sure if that’s allowed but I did it anyway...:dunno

Well, got my transfer case swap done and everything working as it should. Speedometer is actually pretty close now being I went from 3.55 gears to 4.10s. Also fabbed up a front bumper this weekend. I plan to eventually install a winch plate behind it. Also have some super duty tow hooks that I will be bolting into the frame horns.

I was actually able to get the tires to straighten out too. Will still need an alignment but I’ve got it fairly close.

Did you have enough adjustment in the bushings or did you just take a leaf spring leaf out? It looked pretty bad in the other picture.

There was enough in the bushings. Was able to get a degree or so of negative camber then just spun them back for a bit extra caster until the tires were straight. Keep in mind none of this was done with precision tools but should be good enough to put a few test miles on.

That's impressive that the bushings have that much affect on the angle of the tires. Thanks for replying back.
