Finally came up on a deal and broke the curse (had 4-5 deals go south in the past year) Here she is 2 owner 97 Dodge w. 233k, ATS transmission, triplelock and commander, Banks twin ram, banks exhaust brake.. this guy said it has 2 turbos (compound) I haven't quite been able to find the other one lol it does feel like 2 snails spooling at separate times though. Does anyone know how to tell which stage the trans is?

If you follow the outlet (compressor side) of that turbo, you should find another turbo, or the intercooler. That'll tell you.
Far as the trans, look for the ID plate. May be able to run it by ats. Only trouble is you can request other upgrades. But just maybe they will have a record of it.

I figured it was only 1 turbo, long drive from Oceanside CA to Tucson AZ to Gilbert AZ to Phoenix AZ then back to Gilbert AZ I wasn't in the mood to check out too much. Guy practically gave me the truck, he actually had it listed as a 24v.. It must be the lockup that feels like a 2nd turbo kicking in..

Thanks man, guy said it was an emotional day and I can't blame him... Was his dad's truck (original owner) and that he had 1 too many cars for his HOA after purchasing a plug-in. They previously lived in Colorado apparently had 10-14 grand into the ATS trans after blowing through 4 trans pulling his 5th wheel. He (the son) only had it the past 7 years put 40k on it, only thing that concerns me is he never used a fuel additive... Said injectors we're recently rebuilt though, I'll probably never pull anything in it but who knows, only thing I'm not too happy with is the trans seem very aggressive I'll probably need to readup and toy with the commander settings.

Don’t know about ats trannys but the stock trannys have bands that need adjusted. Just back off the lock nut and torque to the spec called out for that year. If you over torque them it will grab hard when shifting. For a short while lol. Nice looking rig. I’ve got a 97 4x4 dually. It’s kind of a beater but runs great. Ever since georends stopped building trannys there really isn’t anything reliable to put behind a Cummins besides a manual. But that’s just my thought.

Yeah it's gonna hurt a little bit to chop this truck up, I'm planning to use it for my Travelall... Speaking of which I need to change my username hah.. and definitely going manual, probably NV4500, I'm hoping when the time comes the ATS trans will score me some decent cash.

What’s wrong with the idi? Or just want to try something different? I’d love to see the idi stay in the old international.

Well when I joined I had just picked up the Travelall engineless, shortly after I picked up a 7.3 IDI with ATS093 kit, sadly the block was trash it was already 40 over and 2 injectors we're left out so the block was seized pretty badly.. no way was I going to resleeve. My goals for this truck are 20mpg til the day I die and no electronics.. only way the Dodge is not getting hacked up is if I find a screaming deal on a 4bt.

I hope you find a deal cause that truck is too nice of a package. Those trucks don’t tend to stay that nice - motors sure, but not whole truck
I hear ya, it would hurt a little but planning to sell the cab and bed with title when that time comes. I hope it was a cheap repaint, clear is already pealing on the roof and just noticed a new spot on the hood.
