Pulling an idi that's mated to an E4od. The trans will be staying in the truck for the engine pull. Rad and hood are off the truck and I have lots of pulling power and lift to pull as high as I need. I have pulled them in the past, with the TC both attached to the flywheel still and also left on the input shaft of the trans.
Whats the "proper" way to do it to prevent and front pump/seal damage? Left on the trans or left on the flywheel?

Thanks.

Personally I would never pull the converter with the engine unless the engine was froze up. You are going to have to put the converter back in the transmission before putting the engine in. Or al least you should. Plus the oil mess. Also by leaving it in you push the convert back against the trany when pulling and the pull it up to the engine installing that way make sure things are not binding.

I can't add a lot more to this. I will say one thing. It's A LOT easier to pull the engine without the torque convertor attached. That thing takes up a lot of room back there.
