i put a set of the super winch hubs on and they worked loose and corroded quickly. i am not sure what they coated the aluminum with, or if it has anything but within a few months they looked 10 years old. i even used a little torque wrench to set the torque and they still got loose and water got in.

now, having said that, i contacted the company and they made things right and sent me out a new set for free. i give them props for standing behind there product. no arguing or hassle, i sent them pictures and they made it right.

besides that i have not had a problem with the hubs since. i am sure they are not on the strength and cool factor as warn but they fit my budget at the time. i also don't wheel my truck hard so i doubt i will ever really be pushing the limits on my 4x4 system anymore.

That's all I'd do it's supported with a bearing and the hub just engauges the axel to the wheel hub I'd becautious putting a bunch of chewed up crap on the axel for fear hat it won't release then you drive for a hundred miles with the one side locked in that's ******* fuel and the front end especially if your running 50 mph for a while call me a nut or crazy but I use my 4x4 all the time and don't take any chances with it

the inner stub shaft is supported by bearing but not the outer.

it is actually better to use 4x4 on a regular basis. i think to many front axels die early because they are never used and get crusty. sort of like only starting a car once a winter for snow and expecting no problems when it sat 364 doing nothing the rest of the year.

I have a set of warn premium waiting to be installed on my 1/2 ton. I think I need those special spindle nuts but they’re 60$! I found a set of spicer brand spindle nuts that say they can replace the warns for 16$ but I’m not sure I want to trust that. Sorry for the rant. You get the truck through inspection? If not, move to Indiana where there is no inspection :)

Sadly no, I crawled under it today and the frame is pretty well shot. Most of it is ok but the worst of it is next to the fuel tank. I didn't catch it on initial inspection. I'll still be using it for parts for a 4wd swap on my 91 but unless a frame falls in my lap she's parts only now.

I’ve got a frame, does Texas count as falling in your lap?

Dually plans were ditched, shipping is too expensive and she doesn’t have time to come get it herself, she’s got mom stuff going on, plus the wrenching

I still may be interested, but it would be a LONG time before I can come and pick it up.

I'd come get it for her if I had a trailer big enough. Sadly nobody owes me that big of a favor!

Sure, give me one more reason to get down there! I'm betting you have a cab too LOL

Actually... A frame WOULD fit on my trailer... Know anyone who could use a couple small block chevy motors down there? I've got a few I need rid of and now I need fuel money for a Texas trip!

Haha well scrap is the highest it’s been in years right now

Really? It's low and going down up here... What are cars going for per ton down there? We're around 100/ton. Scrapped most of an 86 C20 at 3500# and got $170. Not too awful long ago it would have been twice that.
