ONLY use FORD throttle cables!!

On Wednesday, December 28, 2016 I ordered a new "pioneer" brand throttle cable for my 91 F350. Sometime in the summer of 2017 the cable snapped. I got lucky and cobbed it together and forgot about it. A few weeks ago it popped out of the retainer at the pedal. I popped it back in and promptly ordered a new one....

I'm not sure if you can really tell how lucky I got, but it's pretty thin. This is the pedal end on a cable that is not even TWO YEARS old!

Having just driven the truck with the new Ford cable, I will say this is the easiest the pedal has ever been to push. Even easier than the other cable was new.

Yep. I try too hard to be cheap. Usually ends up costing me.

Well it looks like you didn't pull any punches while changing out that cable!

Can you still get the OEM cable through the dealership? Mine is still good AFAIK, but it wouldn't hurt to have a spare cable in my toolbox just in case.

I'm not sure. I just punched the part number into Google. The one in the parts bin thread comes up for 92+ so I looked around to find the part number listed for a 91.

yep, i learned that lesson also. mine was not so much about the cable breaking down but the aftermarket cable was about 1/4 or more short from giving me full throttle.

I had to cheap out the 1st time it broke. Swapped out a oem later. Keep a spare in the truck just in case.

Maybe you got lucky. I'd inspect it close and keep an eye on it. Not a fun part to have fail on you unexpectedly!

I know... I had to tinker with my old one many times before it completely crapped out. But this one has done great. Pedal is still easy too.
