Shouldnt be just the compression. Ive got a big socket & a breaker bar on the crank pulley. Also, all 8 injectors are out. Should be the same as removing gp's right?- Brutis

I'm just turning it by hand so far. I have most of the accesories removed along with IP , injectors, ect... I will replace all fluids before running it. It has oil, just 3 year (at least) old. Right now, I am just trying to determine if I need to tear it down or not. I will check it out when...- Brutis

Lessons learned truck is turbo'd
Sorry for your troubles, I agree wholeheartedly. Trying to save money can lead to waste, problems or blowing a motor like I did. Glad you like the turbo! Boy, what a differance a healthy turbo makes- Brutis

1991 7.3 idi f350 questions
Well, it sounds like your tach sensor is not working - mine did the same thing - would drop to 0 at lower rpms. That could also be the culprit for the overdrive issue. Does your Overdrive switch have a blinking light over it? If so it is likely the tack sensor, FIPL sensor or both like mine...- Brutis

It may lose some speed on hills with 5,000 behind it, but on somewhat flat terrain it should hold 65 just fine from my experience. Your RPMs will be high, but these trucks don't mind.- Brutis

First big tow/haul last night
That's what I was thinking. My truck didn't really notice the weight of a trailer until I rented the trailer to haul my parts truck home. Rental place said the trailer weighed around 4,000 with the hydraulic tilt gear and I assume the truck weighs between 6,000 and 7,000. My truck noticed...- Brutis

pump raising question
It's definitely best to have a pyrometer installed before turning up the fuel. Its easy to start melting pistons with too much egt. Having said that, continuous black smoke would probably indicate a problem (i.e. too much egt), whereas brief smoke under heavy acceleration that cleans up after...- Brutis

pump adjustment
It sounds like you have a C6 3 speed auto and what you have adjusted is the control for the shift points. I know on the electronic E4OD trannies it's called the FIPL sensor and there is a post on how to adjust it. I'm not sure what the procedure is on the C6, but I imagine it isn't to...- Brutis

Time for a swap!
I pulled the injectors back out and still can't move it past a certain point. I can go maybe 3/4 of the way around either direction and then no move no further. Nothing came out of the injector holes when I turned it. I really was hoping not to have to pull the heads...any chance that I might...- Brutis

How long has it been doing this and has anything else changed? Water temp sounds good, egts are maybe a tad high to be comfortable with running for very long.- Brutis

exhaust noise
Are you saying that the exhaust manifolds are new? How did you check for leaks. A "sucking" sound doesn't sound normal for a leak. I don't really have any ideas if theres to leaks, but I hope you get to the bottom of it.- Brutis

That's awesome! 3" is what I have on mine and it really opens up the flow a lot. I kinda wanted 4", but was having trouble finding pipe so I asked my friend at the local diesel performance shop what he thought about 3" on my truck and his reply was "if a Duramax can make 500hp with a factory 3"...- Brutis
