Would it be possible to swap a ZF-6 in place of my ZF-5? I need the super low 1st for when I am unloading and pulling out on a reather steep hill without frying the clutch when loaded heavy.

And does anyone know if they had the reverse shift fork problem like the ZF-5 has?

I think it's been investigated and it's a pretty involved swap with very little benefit as I don't think the 6 speeds are very dependable. Do a thread search, I'm sure you'll find the older thread in here somewhere.

I did a search and there is only 1 thread pertaining to doing the swap. Or if all else fails there is an adapter for the Dodge 6spd right?

Years ago we early 'strokes with 5 spd. and 6 spd. I replaced ALOT of the 6 spd trans. The 6 spd used Dextron atf only. The bearings failed quit often. Ford said anything besides Dextron voided the warranty. Not saying they're all junk, just the ones I dealt with were.
