Even 2% is pretty good. Looking at that Lubricity.pdf that I posted, it doesn't get any better after about 20% mixed with #2 Diesel, but that is with pre 2006 ULSD! It'd be nice to have an updated document.

Do they (Gov't) leave the bio in the diesel fuel even when it gets colder??

The government makes regulations, they don't actually do anything. The 2% requirement is hardly noticeable. My guess is that the companies selling diesel fuel would leave the 2% bio in, but thin it down with kerosene to "winterize" it.

I'm just glad I don't get all the government I pay for!

In a neighbooring state (Minnesota) they have the same rule about a percentage of bio in diesel fuel. What happened during the winter is too many trucks were bypassing the state because they had gelling problems when it got really cold. So during the winter they stopped adding the bio in the diesel fuel.

Its now just below freezing every morning and my 5-10% bio blend is doing just fine, starting well with minimal smoke.

Just thought I should stay posted.
