So I was poking around the wiring here and stumbled upon this little job. The big dark wire is the power wire that comes off the alternator and the yellow wire normally connects to the voltage regulator. However it is connected to the power wire instead...poorly done too. That electrical tape gets pretty darn hot. Why would this be done? I don't have a schematic so does anyone know what this is doing or have any suggestions on whether or not i should change this back?

Figured it out! At some point the fuseable link must have given up so they replaced it with another wire. Also looks like I'm missing that capacitor. Thanks Brimmstone for the schematic and damac for the video;Sweet

is it just twisted together? corrosion and arcing make heat... which ain't good.

Solder it or clean it and crimp it proper, shrink wrap over it and it would be good as new
