my wipers on my '86 aren't working. if i run 12 volts to the motor i get sparks at the contacts but no wipe. this tells me i have a bad wiper motor again. but if i put a test light on the plug with the switch on (low or high) i get nothing.

the motor is under warranty so i will probably still switch it out. i just dont get why i get no juice at the plug. wipers are on a self resetting circuit breaker aren't they?

any ideas? i need to get these wipers working.

ok the motor was dead and i replaced it but still no power from the switch. i have the wipers run off my fast idle toggle switch for now.

if the governor box for the intermittent wipers fries will that kill all wiping action? would that cause a fried wiper motor? before they quit altogether the wipers would work sometimes and sometimes not. there was a sound coming from under the dash like static or sizzling that would go away when the wipers finally started. i'm wondering if somehow the motor fried the controller or vice versa.

ideas?

Rob, Sounds like the motor siezed and the high amp draw killed everthing else. I have parts from an 84 if you want them.

i dont get why the circuit breaker/fuse didnt blow before everything else fried. anyone know where to look for this breaker? no sign of it in my fuse panel.

truck is running well otherwise. back to driving it daily and Wendy's in the GMC while we have the '04 Escape up for sale.
