Yes, I attempted a half ass job that got me by for a year until the leaks came back. This prompted a full replacement of the OEM glass and a whole bunch of grinding to remove all the corrosion. Most of my trim retaining clips were destroyed in the process.

I had a whale of a hard time convincing the insurance representative(young chick) that my windshield was a safety hazard as it was all sand-blasted and that obscured visibility when driving toward the sun. She said that she had never heard of such a thing. I replied something to the effect that she must drive only new cars--which was true.

Yeah looks to me as if the previous owner tried to reseal the window with RTV or something. I'm not sure what I'll run into when I get it apart but I don't have very high hopes.
