Why do windows not work as well in cold weather?

I notice this every time it gets cold. All the windows operate at ten percent of the speed that they would if it was hot outside. Is it the grease in the mechanism?

Could be because grease is cold but probably not. Maybe you have bad power/ground connections that show up more when cold. Maybe the motors are shot and need more power to run but the battery has less cca to offer because it's also worn and it's cold.

There is a known problem with electrical wiring chafing on the holes in the door frame and door. I know I have one rear window with this problem. I fixed the other one, so I know it's not due to chafed wires. When it's warm, they work great. Maybe the rubber gets too stiff and slows things down.
