which wiper motor to get?

i ordered a new one from rock auto for $60 delivered, for my 89 f250 7.3 but it looks a little different than the one that was on there. the flange looks different and it only has one electrical hook up where as the one on there has two (one is probably for the intermittent wipers, which i don't need anyway). The one i bought is dorman 601201 and i checked several times on their catalog, and it says it fits 89 F250 diesel.

will this one fit right in place or should i have got a different one?

my guess is you got the wrong one, possibly boxed wrong or something. Mine was plug and play. It was an A1/Cardone. I think it was a little more, but it was also about 3 years ago, been working ever since. Is there any instructions about adapting plugs, etc.?

There should only be one wiper motor from 87-97. The delay is from a controler by the wiper switch.

Wrong motor. Its way to much work getting in and out of the cowl for me to install the wrong part. I just replaced my motor 2 weeks ago. The first motor from Napa was ruff looking. Kinda like some idiot had painted a wrecking yard find. I test ran it before I installed the cowl and it sounded like rocks in a gear box. It wouldn't "park" correctly so I took it back.... Got my money back and went to the pick-n-pull. Found a really nice motor for $17.00 as compaired to the crappy Napa motor for $73.00. Also found out that some Rangers and many small Ford sedans use the same motor and are really easy to remove... Much easier than our trucks. No having to take sheet metal off, just a small plastic cover on the drivers side firewall....

Yes... It was a ford motor off a wrecked ford f150 truck.

Do these wiper motors return the wipers to the bottom of the windshield when their turned off. My blades stop where ever I turn the button off at, also my delay doesnt work.

I do know that a 95 wiper motor will not fit a 94, has different plug. There is a little plastic rod that follows the big gear in a track that tells the motor when to park, those occasionally break off.

Yes... I think all wiper motors have to have the special "park" setup. The one in my truck (an 89) has always parked. The rebuilt ford motor I got from Napa wouldn't park and it sounded terrible... So they got it back, I got my $73.00 back and bought one in a u-pick-n-pull yard. I enjoy searching for the "good stuff"... And its a great place to learn how too remove-install something....
