Couple questions...What is the little electronic box by the #1 GP?
And, Why does my truck have a MAP sensor? It has an electrical connector but has never had a boost line going to it. Did all 94 trucks have them? My 92 w/ a 460 has one in the same spot so I wonder if they all had them and the diesels just didnt get hooked up.

the little square is the water in fuel box I think. Dont know about the map, trans control maybe.

suv you may be right on that. ,mine was cooked so I never used it.

First one I believe is the temperature sensor for the fuel heater. Not sure on the second one.

the first is for the fuel heate ror wif light.
the 2nd is a Baro press sensor, no line to it as it measures baro air pressure

Why is there one on an IDI? What does it need it for?

My 94 also has a map sensor, really don't know why on an IDI but the powerstrokes have a hose from intake manifold to it to measure boost. Maybe they just threw it on the 94s in case it was getting a powerstroke down the assembly line.

The baro sensor affects the shift schedule of the trans - low pressure causes the PCM to pull the upshifts a bit earlier to avoid the engine winding up too much when it can't get as much air as it normally would.

So why didn't the factory hook them to the manifold on the turbo engines like they they do on the powerstrokes?

Ok so it uses it for shifting. You would think they would have hooked them to the intake to tell the TCM to up line pressure when under boost...

Dunno about turbo trucks, but that was the explanation I was given by two guys who used to work for Ford designing transmissions...

Well, maybe I'll compare them between my 94 and 97 to see if they are same pt#, if so maybe I'll hook it up like a powerstroke to see what it does.
