What would a fair price be?

I am still looking for the right truck. Last night I drove a 91 F350 Dually, Crew Cab, it has 313,000 and is a 5 speed, it also has an added turbo on the engine. It needs paint as paint is faded and peeling. Interior good condition, has diamond plate on top of bed sides, running boards and a sleeper in bed, also has origional back window which can be put back in. Does not have a tailgate, has GN and reese hitch. Runs good, all gauges and lights work, brakes are good. He is asking $3500 , which to me seems a bit high for this year. Opinions please. I also have looked at a 97 F250 4x4, with the 7.3 PS, it has been sitting for about 2 years, I have not been able to crank it as it either needs batteries or glow plugs or possibly starter. It has less than 150,000 and he is asking $2200. It also needs new tires, paint is good but it has a couple small dents in side of bed, no GN hitch but has reese. I am leaning towards the 250.

Knowing what I know now about both style engines, I wouldn't be afraid of that PS in the 250. If you know your way around any sort of engine, a PS is easy to work on. Plus, way more power potential with the PS than the IDI. And 313k miles on the IDI is pretty high for the cylinder sleeves. I would look VERY closely to that IDI for any signs of cavitation at that point.

I prefer the 250, I had a 91 350 for 10 years great truck, but was more truck than I really needed. I can do some stuff myself, but I also have a great mechanic that does not charge an arm and a leg either. I know there are some things I need to check when I get the 250. I am most concerned about the fuel sitting in the tanks, since the first of January here in Ga we have had quite a bit of cold (less than freezing) temps and several days of single digit temps, I know I used to use the diesel additive in the winter and I am sure that was not done to this truck. I plan on changing glow plugs, all belts, oil, fuel filter, new battery, air filter. I know there was the bowl I need to check as well, should I have the O rings checked? Anything else ?

I bought the F250 last night, going to get it picked up Monday and brought home! Excited! This is the truck I wanted and I got it for $1800! Going to put a new starter on first.

Have the UVCH's checked.
Buy a CPS to take with you. Could be why it's sitting and won't start.

Good deal brother. I just picked up ta 97 250 my first Stroker. Changed idler pully, belt, CPS paid 2500 for it. Very lil rust runs like a champ. Keep us posted

I am excited, oh and FYI, I am female Hubby and I show Horses and this is MY truck, I drive it, I haul the trailer. My Daddy taught me right, he raised me to drive trucks and be able to do some repairs on them. Hubby drives sometimes, but I usually drive the truck.
