What is this??

I found this little piece of rubber partially stuck in one of the oil cooler passages on the water side of the oil cooler. Just wondering if anyone knows how or why it might be in there .

It looks kinda like a quarter, to me.

It probably fell out of some guy's pocket.

Taking bets here that sometime in your trucks life, someone filled the radiator with a garden hose that had a female fitting on that end. The part in the picture looks to me like a hose / gasket.

My bet is, the hose gasket traveled through your coolant system and "came to rest" in the head passage.

It's not the thing that holds the ball in the thermostat housing, is it?

It's way too small to be a water hose gasket. Here is a picture of it next to a water hose gasket.

Wasn't there a post a few weeks ago about a rubber restrictor in one of the heater lines? Something about them being used in warmer climates where you wouldn't need as much heat? And keep it handy, you can't get them anymore.
