This morning I left my house going to work. I have a 22 mile trip to work. My ODO was reading 399979.7. I knew I would go over 400k miles before I got to work. I kept my eye on the ODO and when it got to 399999.9 and I just knew it was going to go to 400000.00.............it went back to 300000.0!!!! What is uop with that. I am proud to have an American made truck with an American made engine with 400k miles. Now I dont have any way to prove it....

This is what the engineers did with the electronic speedos. They go up to 399999.9. But will never see 400,000 miles. They set back to 300,000. I thnk that really sucks too. But mine rolls back every 100,000 miles to zero. I really don't know where I am either...

Were you going over 88 mph when it turned? Did you notice your flux capacitor energizing? Any lightning strikes recently?
There's your problem right there. LOL

Seriously, I wasn't aware of this little "quirk"...I'll be sure to take a pic of 399999.9 if/when I get there!

Actually yea it does...I knew a guy who had a '94.5 PSD F250 and it did the same thing. As soon as it was gonna roll over to 400 KM's he was gonna take a pic n he was some pissed when it flipped back to 300 haha

I remember back in the day when people would get mad if you tampered with the ODO and my truck does it on its on due to a FORD design!

You should have equipped a hub with a VEEDEROOT, MILEMARKER, or STEMCO; the VEEDEROOTs on our trucks count the MILLIONs and nobody can argue with them. :)

VEEDEROOT YA, I remember that name. Had a GM 4107 bus with 897,634 miles on it. When it turned over 900,000, replaced the injectors, reset the rack, went from 7 MPG to 11.5 MPG. Sold it to a guy from San Diego, with 950,837 on the VEEDEROOT.

So now we can never be sure if a 300k+ mile 92+ truck actually has more miles (if its more than 300k it could have rolled back to it). That sucks.

Well a truck rolling back at 399,999.9 to 300,000 is no worse than a truck rolling back at 99,999.9 back to zero. We just roll back more often...

I know what your saying, I just think its a bummer that the OBS trucks roll back. Never knew that. Obviously the older trucks roll back.

If you ever look at the odometer on the OBS trucks when you first turn the key on (the digit self test mode,) the digits on the far left portion of the LCD (the hundred thousand column) make out a backward "6" (almost looks like a "G") so that means there were never enough crystal grids on the LCD to show a "4" in that area.

cookoo

Guess Ford wanted to make absolutely certain that NO truck made prior to 1997 EVER went over 399,999 miles...
