Will the VIN# tell me what gears I have?

The VIN# will tell you what it came with new. Like he said, unless it's been changed. I would bet it's 3.55 or 4.10 They were the most common I think
If you can go to all synthetic in the transfer case, rear, front diffs, and the trans if it don't leak, spent about 200 on mine but i had to buy some tools (i.e. grease gun,etc...) lots say not to go synthetic in the motor as it's a waste of money if your engine eats oil.I hope to start it for the first time tomorrow, I'll know more then. As soon as I get it home I'm changing all of the fluids and if all else fails I'll do some counting then. Thanks everybody.
thats what i thought but there is nothing on the door jams or the doors or anywhere I could find.
