What do your gauge setups look like?

I would personally love to have a digital display for all gauge readings and simply have to run different sensors off of it! I have been trying to convince my fince's mom to put an edge cts2 insight in her 2001. It would be almost too late for me because I will now be almost $700 into my 7 gauges (all isspro) but man I think it would be **** to have some sort of heads up display with all gauges in it!

My plan was to use it more for a combined warning system and a control for the fan clutch and intercooler pump, with some display functions for things that i might be interested in occasionally like rear end temp.

Seems like it should be that difficult to do with some basic electronics knowledge. LM34 or 35 would work well for sensors, just need to put together a mount/body for them. These are simply IC devices that put out a analog signal proportional to the temp - 10 mv/* IIRC, so you could even just wire them directly to a meter, but also easy to use as an analog input to a PIC. Pressures and EGT would be harder, certainly doable but not a simple and I was just going to stick with the current gauges for these.

Thought about putting a torsiometer on the driveline too to get a real time hp/torque output, but too much cost/effort for the novelty factor. :sly

Does that have multiple display colours or only blind me at night so I cannot see blue?

Whats the unit and sensors worth?

Looks pretty darn cool

it is a black background but yes, you can change whatever color you like as well as use a dial for brightness since it is a standard LCD. just have to change the code.

Right now I am planning on doing only trans and water temp so I calibrated a basic short sweep, short length, autometer cylinder head temp sender.

what are they worth? not sure I understand? so far I have about $30 into hardware and about 60 hours into learning. May be a lot but I am a nerd by trade.

ok last one I promise. Here it is in the truck. I am second guessing the temp accuracy since I added more wire. ******* it around it only got to 150. maybe it is right since ambient was around 60F today and I have a trans cooler . not sure why it looks blue.

honestly my manual which does heat up contrary to popular opinion. I see maybe 160*f if I am driving a fair amount of short distances in the day (at 45-60*F) but on long drives I have to set the cruise at 78 to keep it at 200 or below. I think for a auto with a cooler 150 sounds correct.

finally picked it up. having kids really changes things huh :p

added some features so it will be, oil pressure, trans temp, water temp, and battery voltage. When i get it ironed out it will eventually be egt thermocouple

Mine! from the bottom to the top then left to right
pyrometer (ev1), tranny temp (ev1), Voltometer (ev1), Coolant temp (ev2)
fuel psi (ev2), turbo boost (ev2), oil psi (ev2).

Looks good! ;Sweet I may end up doing the same thing, although I have to find a spot for one more gauge :sly (also have to see how the F-650 top console will behave with a shelf)

How easily can you see the top gauge on the four-gauge pod when you're driving? I haven't had a chance to see a four-gauge pod in an '80-'97 truck in person, but I've been worried that the top gauge might be at a weird angle that makes viewing difficult without straining your neck (and taking concentration away from the road)...

I put my oil pressure up top. Something I don't look at too frequently or "watch" while driving, unlike pyro. I don't find it hard to see (6'0") but it does it at a poorer angle than the other 3 in relation to my sight. Then water, pyro, boost. Trans temp is on the column like what cpdenton had a few pages back.

hey warden im 5'8'' on a good day, and I slouch some when driving. I don't have much of a problem with seeing it. I wouldn't put a boost or fuel psi gauge there just in the main fact that the very corners of the gauge are a bit of a strain to see, but I can see the rest of the readings great. Yes it is not at the same great angle as the rest, but for the coolant temp gauge I have there it couldn't be better because my 2 favorite gauges to check are pyro and coolant temp it works perfect. Especially since the coolant typically reads in the middle of the gauge (190*). By the way I also added a explorer overhead console behind the overhead gauges, but my camera doesn't work so no more pictures.
And tmills213 that looks sweet.
Has anyone heard about running a edge insight or the like on a non obd2 vehicle? I had heard it could be done, but would only run what've sensors you installed. Its too late for me now but I think it would be cool for a pre obd2 truck to have a digital gauge like all the new trucks.
