I am new to the site but not to Ford diesels, I have an 02 ccsb f250 7.3 4x4 zf6 and a 97 cclb 7.3 4x4 zf5 drw. I've owned an idi before but ended up parting the truck because of rust and water in oil.

My friend has the truck its an 88 f250 rclb 4x4 zf5 7.3 with a banks turbo kit on it. Truck has no rust, nice toolbox, gooseneck hitch, good tires. Bad needs: clutch, brake caliper, batteries.

The truck starts runs good other than the caliper clutch thing, I went with him when he bought it. He got it to fix and drive but just had his daughter and would like to see it go. I could get the truck for $1400.

If I got the truck It would be a project like my other 2. I know the turbo idis are getting rarer and I like the zf5. Would be getting fixed/cleaned up, a 60 and 33s. I cant decide if I should get it or let my other friend buy it and try to flip it.

I'd say go for it! If you don't think it will work out then you could always part it out and get you're money back

Yeah that's always an option, I just hate doing that to them. Always thought it would be a cool combo to put into like a 78-79 f series

Yeah I think for 1400 it's gonna be a deal. It has enough part it that I could easily make my money back.

And i just looked at this truck on craigslist wondering why it was cheap. The ad said runs and can drive but needs work..and has a first gen banks turbo....a good deal in my book.

Yeah I got it then kindof came to my senses. I discovered it doesn't need a clutch though seems to drive decently but you can tell it needs a tune up. I am still considering keeping it but I just hate to have to register and insure 3 trucks.
