truck in sig, the wait to start light stopped working a few days ago. the glow plugs still work and cycle properly. I bench tested the light and it will light up with a ground and 12 volts. I am getting 12 volts to the plug on the truck but it seems I have lost the ground connection. does anyone know where the ground wire routs to in the harness? everything else in the truck seems to work so I don't think a major ground went. I would like to fix this properly and not just wire in another ground to the light, but if that's my only option then so be.

thanks

They are screwed into a metal part of the dash, behind the instrument panel. Crawl under there and look.

Do you mean you are getting 12V to the socket for the bulb? If not, that is the next step I would do.

If you look at a wiring diagram, you should have 3 fusible links on the load side of the relay. 2 for the glow plugs and a smaller one for the light

There is a plug on the passenger side fender that everything goes through. That was my problem

IL check all of those things out, thanks. it seems to be an intermittent problem. it didn't work yesterday but came on this morning. I stripped some casing off the ground wire and attached a small wire to another ground and it made it work so there is just a finicky ground somewhere.

Mine's intermittent as well; sometimes it'll be spot on, others not so much. All of the wiring is old, and as long as it works, I'm fine with it. I do carry a fire extinguisher, and I think it's a must for any older rig. Other than that, I just watch the idiot voltage gauge; it's spot on every time; the gauge shows the draw of the plugs, and you can visibly see it move around an 1/8" when the plugs cut off.

instead of starting a new thread il start on this one again. the question I have is, is it ok to let the GPs cycle until the relay clicks or should I go by the light on the dash? in my case when the GP light turns off the GP relay is still activated so im not sure if I should leave them on longer then the light or if it cause premature failure.
