Vaccum issues.

I'm loosing/not making enough vaccum at idle. The brakes suck and AC doesn't come from the correct vent. Once I start getting some RPM, the brakes are better and the AC come from the vents I have selected.

What's the vaccum pump test again..... cannot seem to find it. I'm sure the vaccum pump is the oringinal '86.

heath i dont know if your truck has cruise or not or of it has that coffee can lookin vac reservoir on the drivers side fender well but mine rotted out and i was losing vaccum. i bypassed it as a temp measure and have no cruise control as a result but i do have brakes and heater controls. a good vac pump wants to pull around 16 inches of vac if i remember correctly.

That vacuum can for the cruise control is why I had a vacuum problem also. Also when Banks installed my turbo they broke one of the nipples off the vacuum manifold on the firewall and didn't tell me . Ford no longer sells them either. I found several in the pick-a-parts on everything from the big Mercs to the Lincolins. Now I have several spares just in case.....

How about a vacuum gauge?.

No brakes nor vents at lower rpm's = Bad vacuum pump. Leak would be My second guess but I would bid it is the vp.
