update on Clutch

Okay I finally bled the clutch, but I think I found out why the original clutch rod bent. When the clutch is pressed, the whole tranny kida shifts and the pressure plate does not move. The shift fork and throw out bearing are in good working order. My guess is the pressure plate needs to be replaced or something needs to be inspected inside there. Any ideas?

you really need to investigate this.
this is normally an indication of a cracked bellhousing.
have a friend work the clutch pedal and you check the bellhousing.
irregardless, it may be time to pull out the trans and take a really close look at the clutch assy.

I think thats what I am about to do. The only question I have is how to get the shifters out. Never done A T19, is it like the NP435?

The shifter is held in place by a screw on collar and a little locating dowel. Its not hard to remove just tedious and time consuming. The only thing you need to be real careful of is not to drop the locating dowel into the transmission. Be REAL careful about that.Beyond that the transmission separates from the bellhousing. I'd separate them and just pull the trans. You can then see eevrything you need to with the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and bellhousing.

Ok i just finished, it took just under two hours and everything is out. it is too dark but tomorrow I will look at everything a little closer. I think i will go a head and spend some money on a brand new clutch, i did notice the springs in the clutch were cracked. For future reference, how does the transfer case shifter come out? Thanks
