Ugliest truck I have ever owned. Parting out 1988 F-Superduty

Rear is 5.13:1, it feels wound out at 45 mph.

Triple over will take care of that with a 2.56:1 final

i've been clocked at 85 mph in my F450 carrier.

NONE of the dash guages work, so I dunno the RPMs, and not sure of the speed either. I do know there were all kinda pissy folks on the road though, going around me. When I first saw this thing I had serious thoughts of putting a rollback on it, but its too far gone to rust and ghetto rigging. Even found a complete 19ft steel bed for reasonable, but felt that was too much for that chassis since most i've ever seen have a 17ft alu.

Towcat, I thought I recalled you looking for the driveline brake, or was that someone else? This one doesn't appear have any externally visible problems, though its not hooked up.

could easily have tanks longer and go to 30 gallons a side. But.. at todays fuel prices.. who could afford to fill them... Sheeesh..

No problem, will have the bed off tomorrow and then I'll pull the valve. Work ran late the past couple days, killing my ability to get anything done.

Those dimensions were for the rear factory plastic tank riotwarrior asked about.
The round tanks are quite a bit bigger.

18.5 x 49 would give you 57 gallons each tank.... or a total of 114 [presuming you left no free space at top..

With the 16 gallon rear tank.. and if it still has the under cab tank.. you are talking some serious legs... no wonder it needed a sleeper.. ha..

No worries on the load control valve.. when ever you get to it.. I understand all to well how life has to happen when interrupted by work.. lol

We've got an '11 f450 at work that has a 65gal titan tank and it will go around a thousand on it when not towing anything. Nice to drive from alabama to northern ohio and drive around a couple days before putting fuel in it.

Got the thing mostly taken apart. I made the decision to leave the long block in there for more scrap weight because the oil looks like thick chocolate milk and it had plain water that smelled oily, so it definitely has some issues. Cooling system was full of rust too.

Also found out that the saddle tanks were not empty as the PO had told me, they had around 70 gallons of nice clean diesel in them. That was a major plus...

I made it from South Jersey to Dayton, Ohio last year with the factory tanks, I'm itching to put my 100 gal transfer tank back in. That would give me about 2450 mile range

The driveline brake is available, and appears to be in good shape. It wasn't hooked up so I didn't test it.
