Once it hits about 7 psi, it moves the "gauge" to a set point.
Doesn't read actual pressure.

So is this the oil pressure i see on my gauge in the cab?.

Well, sort of. That is an ~7psi switch. When there is at least 7psi of oil pressure, the switch closes and moves the needle to ~ the middle of the gauge on the dash. The last year I know for certain the gauge moved in relation to the pressure was 86. Some have seen 87 or 88's that did......... There is a mod you can do by replacing that switch with the sending unit from an 83-86 and bypass a resistor on the back of the cluster, and it will move in relation to pressure. It still doesn't have a number... but it moves...... Ford still uses the switch method...... my 03 is the same way...........

If you really want to know what the oil pressure is..... you will need to install an aftermarket gauge...........
