Hey guys,
So, the nice folks at my local Quick Lube tell me that the head of the plug in my 5-speed tranny is trashed, and if they take it out to change the fluid, they probably won't be able to get it back in again, so I'm sposed to bring in a new plug with me. Trouble is, none of the parts places in town seem to know what type/size of plug my tranny will take - can anybody shed any light on what kind/size of plug I need? Thanks..!

Normally they are a standard NPT pipe plug.

Most likely either 1/2" or 3/4" NPT. Just pick up one of each at the hardware store, they are inexpensive.

The ZF5's use a straight thread plug with a seal. I can't remember for sure but I believe it is a metric thread. You may have to go to the dealer to get one. Here is a link to some information on the ZF5 series transmissions:

I believe the threads are straight cut, the transfer case plugs are standard pipe plugs. If you can't find one anyplace, I would try your local transmission shop as they run into that kind of stuff.

Good luck
