TOOLS NEEDED FOR OUR TRUCKS?

Those of us who keep tools in our trucks for "just in case", is there a pretty standard set of tools that everyone keeps in our trucks? like a list?

Thankfully about 3 wrenches will probably do 90% of repairs on our trucks. I am just wondering what everyone else keeps stocked, and where do you keep them? under the seat? (i know some of you are lucky enough to have those tool racks)

I have a full socket set in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 drive in both Metric and SAE as well as both in combination wrenches...some screw drivers an pliers a multi meter and large 1/2 drive johnson bar for wheel wrench with respective socket!

My goal is some specialty tools as well..IP wrench and power steering pulley puller/installer so I can do PS and vacuum pumps. Being at I'm 4x4 I have the front axle nut tool, I need to aquire a rear axle nut tool.

I always have spare drive shaft u joints, rear straps for driveshaft and the Torx bolts as well.

SO FAR, it sits behind my seat for the most part. I think the SC will be better or Worse...ugh!

In addition to regular sockets, wrenchs etc. Do not forget a really good flashlight, duct tape, wire ties, mechanics wire, razor knife,hacksaw blade rags, old sheet,tarp or dropcloth, block or two of wood for jack, piece of heater hose, return line, headlight bulb, fuses

I literally never go more than a half hour from the house without the following:
3/8 socket set
1/4 socket set
combo wrenches
various pliers (slip, needle nose, side cutters, visegrips)
various screwdrivers
multimeter
foil backed tape/duct tape/cable ties
small pipe wrench (it's either an 8 or a 6) as a last ditch for any fastener. If I can't grab it with this, I'll just keep rounding it off till it's gone. lol

it wont cover every situation, but it'll handle the surprises.

Lots of good suggestions! I have a basic Craftsman tool kit in the back, some fluids (oil, water, coolant), a good flashlight, and a magnetic pick-up tool. That last one is a big one for me since I seem to drop EVERYTHING at least once.

I have fulltime electric onboard air compressor that runs my air suspension with a nice big storage tank off a semi trailer. Attached to that is a fitting for air tools and I carry a 1/2 in ingersol rand impact and sockets for changing tires etc on the road and also tire plugs and filling chucks for repairing tires. Comes in VERY handy on long trips. Plugged a trailer tire in under 10 minuits in Utah in a parking lot , and that impact was priceless having to change out a steer just off the missississippi river bridge outside St Louis

I carry a BFH. Fixes anything.

I also have a large wrench to change out hitch balls. Add to that jumper cables. I keep my cars all well maintained, and rarely ever to any roadside repairs. So far less than once every 100k miles for all my vehicles. My wife has a newer vehicle, but all mine are 20+ years old.

I have custom rear seat with storage boxes the contain the following. 20 foot jumper cables. All electrical stuff complete kit to heat shink wires conecter test lights an so on. Also a rechargeable led light bar two regular mag sticks an a power inverter. All fuilds an two gallons of water. I carry each socks set sae an metric same wrenches. Then ip wrench an everything to swap an ip. Which covers most of truck, spare fuel filter. Flasher fuses, fuses. I need an extremely large jack to swap front tires. An some Roman noodles an a bucket of Dogg food yes dog food my Pitbull is never left my side anywhere I go no matter what he is there even at work. An that's about it. I do have the rear axel nut tool as well. O an enough RVT for three complete engines lol.

j/k, I dont carry much as i dont venture to far from home with my truck. But i try to keep the comsumables on boards (bulbs, fuses, hose, etc) and basic handtools. Anything more and im limping it home or callin the hook. Sadly the only time i did break down was when i had a wheel bearing going, not much a whole rolling toolbox could do lol.
