Throttle position senor and high idle solenoid....?

ok on my 6.9 it's going in the scout with a t-19 behind it, so i don't need any form of TPS right? it came with what looked like a vac regulator TPS prob for a C6 right? ALSO do i need the high idle sole. if i don't run it in the winter? if so is it self regulated or does it go to a sensor? how do i hook it up? i'm making a custom harness for the ENTIRE scout and i'm going to be getting to the engine part realllll soon.

high idle sol has a sensor by the thermostat housing-hot to one side of sensor--other wire to the sol. when warm enough, sensor cuts out, sol goes to idle. cold weather or not---hook it up, otherwise,let off throttle cold, may kill on ya.

I agree, hook up the high idle solenoid, put it on a switch even - them 200-300 extra rpms do come nice when you gotta crawl, whether tis in traffic or down the trail, especially with a bolt-action trans. Proper way of installing a manual switch involves wiring in a diode there, and I highly recommend not skipping on it as without the diode I've had my engine do a semi-runaway thing several times. As said, install the high idle,it's there for a reason.
Even on cool days and a cold start,a couple of hundred rpms does help warm the motor up faster and helps reduce wet stacking conditions.

i'll hook it up stock where can i get the sensor by the thermostat? oh and i'm guessing i don't need the TPS then eh?

Don't you already have the sensor in place? Look by the #1 glowplug, tis between that and the thermostat housing elbow.

no i tossed all the sensors..... is that on the driver side of the motor? above the waterneck? i'm going to be using a bulb style tenp gauge too, not sure if it'll interfere with here the sensor goes....

Tossed it, eh? Way to go bud! lol But yah, that's the driver side of the motor, on top of it, between the water neck and the #1 glowplug. New sensor you can get from a dealer, maybe also apart stores but not too sure on that.

is it just a temp sensor or is it designed to send a signal to the solenoid?

It's a temperature switch actually, triggers that small square relay that powers the high idle and cold advance solenoids.

This is the sender. As mentioned it gets power and puts that power thought to the high idle solenoid below 112 deg. F. Try to locate your old one because the last time I priced one Mr. Ford was very 'proud' of it.

Try Green Sales Company here out of Cincinnati, they have them, thats where I got mine from there genuine Ford parts cheaper then dealer. They will even ship it.

hmmm its next to the UPPER waterneck eh? i think i put a block off plug in there i'll have to look, while i'm at it anybody have an online engine wiring diagram?
