Thoughs on Shocks

Well as i am tearing my truck apart i have had my eye on coil over shocks for the front and rear of my truck, i figure that these would give me a helping hand on my front end being im a half ton with a diesel engine and soon to be a ranch hand style bumper/brushguard it says for each pair can hold up to 500 pounds extra so 1000 pounds with it being quad shocks, and i will also be putting in a goose ball to haul trailers and the type for the rear holds an additional 1200 pounds, how does this sound to yall ?

If your wanting to do all that with it y not just build an f250 that can handle the job?

I'm running Edelbrock IAS shocks and Firestone riderite airbags. Works great and adjustable for ride and load.

Get airbags. You try to support too much weight with shock mounts and you are going to be doing a LOT of welding repairing shock mounts.

I understand the idea because i plan on putting my spare motor into an f150 eventually. But i plan to build for mpg's. With the setup your looking at im not really sure if it would really get that much better than an f250 an your hauling ratings will be a lot less. Heck with my 4x4 250 i've been able to get 17 to 17.5 on the highway, im hoping my new 2wd turbo diesel f250 with 3.55's will do better than that.

i was only looking at hauling a 3 horse with living quarters trailer every now and then

That's still a big trailer tho - your frame ain't weak, your axles are, what you have in the rear one in particular is what most RWD passenger cars have as well - while it's overbuilt for car purposes, it ain't strong enough for heavy truck purposes, hence why such things as D60s and Sterlings exist...

You're working with some light axles for that much hauling. I would be concerned with braking capabilities as well.

Do yourself a favor, get the airbags. They cost the same, and will do the job properly.

oh yea trust me i know haha, im just use to seeing alot of 1/2 ton trucks at the horse shows i go to pulling these trailers with 2wd gassers
