first off IM BACK :D

secondly im wanting to swap a 6.9 or 7.3 into the 87 f150. i cant find any good buys on an idi and the one i did find turned out to be junk

so what all would it take to swap one of these into my truck? i would do manual/ push button switches for everything (starter, gps, and ip). i have some good leads one some used engines but the conditions are unknown . i know i would need motor mounts, engine/tranny, driveshaft and maybe a rear end??. not really sure what all it would take so any help yall have to offer will be great! thanks ;Sweet

Radiator support also. I think you could put F250 coils in the front for added weight. A 9" rear with 35 spline axles would be light and reliable. 3:08 or even 2:73:eek: gears would make for some great economy in a light truck like that.;Really

Thats what im going for is a fuel milage truck. it has 3:55s in it now which aint to bad. which tranny will i need? c6? will a psd rad support work? i can get a whole front clip for like $150. ive tried finding a donor truck but damn people want way too much for a parts truck because scrap is so high. just trying to get stuff organized before i start to tear it apart.

Look for an overdrive, auto or manual. You are going to need a diesel radiator support. You are swapping among similar vintage so it shouldn't be too bad. A wreck would be great, just take what you need and put it on the good 150 chassis.

not that worried about OD for now. im defintly not gonna put an E4od in it. thinking c6 with maybe an OD later on. found a complete truck for $800 with a rebuilt c6 that has a straight body just ugly as hell. posted pics of it awhile back. his son said he would prolly take 600 for it but he said no less than 800. not sure which route to go yet. found a crew cab dually with a 7.3 and banks turbo for $2000 but it says it has a "valve knock" im thinking its an injector but not sure. gonna see if i can pick it up for about 1200-1500. the problem is now that my truck aint sold so no cash LOL
