thermostat question

I just put a motocraft thermostat in my truck and just wondering why dose one side say toward radiator?

Any thermostat has a copper pill that needs to "see" the coolant from the block. The other side points towards the radiater. Install o noe backwards and it never sees the hot coolant and you melt the engine.When installed correctly all you see is the top of the stat. The bottom with the black rubber strip in in the block.

I do have it in with the copper thing down like the one that came out, I was thinking the words printed on the thermostat had to face forward.
