Got the new rod bushings installed and they are a bit to "small" for the piston pins.
Is this normal with new bushings???
Or do the IDI piston pin/rod bushings pressed in???(didn't think so because of the lock rings in the pistons.)
Or do they need to be honed to fit???

When I ordered these from Rock Auto there was a Clevite set that mentioned "boring needed", but I DID NOT get those, mine are Federal Mogul.

Yes. Rod bushings are a hone to hit item. I have never heard of a bushing that did not need to be honed to fit a piston pin. Might be a tuff finding a shop that has the machine to hone the rod bushings.

Thanks Gary, there goes my hopes that things would move along quickly....lol
So honing these bushings is more than running a small brake cylinder hone thru???

Yes it is. The pin to bushing clearance is small. My shop manual says its pin to bushing is 0.0004 to 0.0009 and the pin to piston clerance is 0.0003 to 0.0007. Can you make that clearance with a brake cylinder hone.. Nope a chance..

DO NOT USE BRAKE CYL HONE....

Here is a real rod machine for you to see it's not that simple

Here is a bit from some shop I came up with
http://www.atpengines.com/Connecting_Rod_Reconditioning.html

The rod ends are very accurately honed to size with these machines, my old boss in high school Bill used to use these for rebuilding engines and maybe one day I'll have one....ROFL

Could be a valve lathe and seat grinder coming one day I'm told ROFL...but that's been a story for a while ;)

Any good machine shop can do this but they need the pistons and pins for each bore to get you all set up!
