I'm looking for a junk tailgate that fits my 96 obs

does anyone know which years will fit?

Pretty much any year will fit, I think. Until the sd stuff. Maybe just 88-97.
That one appears mid 70's.

It won’t fit, I actually started a thread on this awhile back. 80-86 bullnose tailgate will fit if you move your hangers and catches, 70s would require a lot of custom work.

I found your bullnose tailgate thread, but I didn't see anything about mods for a 70's gate to fit
do you have any details about how involved it is?

You gotta take a obs tailgate and cut the ends off and reshape it to match the 70s tailgate, cut the ends off the older one and replace with the obs ends. Sounds a lot easier than it really is, I found a thread on it when I was researching tailgate options, but I don’t think it was ever a completed project so I can’t tell you definitively that it will work

thanks, I'll pass. if I have to cut up a tailgate that already fits, I'd just use the obs gate.
I found a SD gate local for 50$ it looks like that can fit with shims
I'll still hold out a few days a keep looking, no need to marry the first girl i date

Have you tried www.car-part.com yet? It will handle the interchange for you. Prices from new to $50 for a tailgate from my quick searches. Plenty of them in the southeast.

yup, I didn't see any that low near me. Old stuff doesn't rust away down here so a lot of it is still on the road, driving up prices

it was bowed so much it barely fit onto the bed.
