Is there a way to test the circuit, and if so what readings am I looking for ?

My factory tach is useless, when I go wide open after about 2,000rpm it just does what it wants and will peg pass 4k rpm once I get to what I assume is 2900-3200rpm... I'm assuming this is what's causing my extremely hardshifts at times. Can I test the signal at the cluster ? Am I looking at getting my cluster fixed or tsom?

Mine was craping out to. Eratic like what you are describing. It was the cruz controle module. On day I cought the blue smoke of death from under the center of the dash and then the tach, speedo, and odometer all went out. I haven't had luck finding those modules except pic a part or doner. But it's a big ass obs. Not alot of speeding. And I just go by feel on the shifts.
