I am in the process of putting a zf in an 85 f-350 cab and chassis. My donor is an 88 f-superduty. The superduty has the driveshaft emergency brake and a larger u-joint. Both trucks had the same wheelbase so I was hoping to take the superduty driveshaft and put it in the f-350, but the ujoints are much larger on the superduty driveshaft than my current axle pinion.
can I get a custom ujoint to join my superduty driveshaft to my dana 70 rear, or do I need to go to a driveling shop and have the yoke changed out on the driveshaft to match my pinon?
I don't really think I will use the driveshaft ebrake. How difficult is it to remove it and replace it with a standard tailshaft assembly off another zf? Then I might be able to use my old driveshaft. There is a pull a part nearby that has a couple of zfs.
Thanks
