I figured I would share some of the upgrades or modifications I will be doing to my truck to prep it for use. some things are just typical maintenance and some things I am doing just because.
the most important things to do are,
-front brakes, including pads and calipers
-rear E brake cables
-new P/S gearbox
-reman P/S pump
most of this is already done
this is the interesting stuff. since I have the twin I beam you cant really buy a lift kit for it, not that I have seen. two years ago I bought 1.5'' lift blocks and it put the front end way out of whack and I was wearing out tires really fast. so I decided to make my own lift kit, it is only a 2'' lift but that is really all I need.
there are several ways to lift these front ends and its probably not the way most people would do it but this is what I decided to do.
I am having 2'' spacers made to go in between the factory lower spring mount and the radius arm.
I modified the radius arm brackets to be 2'' lower.
in stead of making brackets to lower the I beams I cut, welded and gusseted them.
all the front end parts have been sand blasted and soon to be painted. I hope all this works and it can now be properly aligned. pictures will be coming soon...
