So, today I ordered the gasgets and the O-rings from Ford $44.00, in tomorrow.

Evidently the 6 ring cooler and the 4 ring cooler are the same.
The 4 thin rings are obsolete, replaced by 2 fatter ones.
So I guess it does not matter what's inside when I remove it.

The parts guy at Napa looked at me kinda funny when I asked for O-ring lube,he said just use motor oil.

Is tap water ok to use in the cooling system?

dont use tap water use distilled. and use coolent that is low silicate and add sca or get something that includes sca or dca.

thanks, I was unsure about the water.
Do I need to go through all that with the 6.9? (sca or dca)
No cavatation issues like the newer engines.

honestly im not to sure but I would add it in any diesel.
