ok, so 98% of the way done with the c6 to zf swap.
got everything done but the downpipe back in (forgot to cut that damn ear off the trans while it was out) and just got my driveshaft back from the shop.

The u joint fits perfect into the driveshaft (all three of them) but it has a good bit of slop in the zf yoke. Does it take a larger bearing cap?

to affix the joint to the yoke I have two flat pieces of curved steel and two small fine threaded capscrews with star bits.
Maybe thats not the right clamps... I dunno, I pulled this thing in august and I'm a lil fuzzy.

any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like one of those 'hybrid' u-joints where the one side is a different size/spread than the other. I can't remember the number but I'll look for it. I'm sure someone else will remember and post.

When I did mine (although I didn't have a c6 b4) I ended buying the straps at the ford dealer (they are spicer) and this where the right ones. The ones at napa looked right but where too loose.

well these came off the truck of H2ODr... they fit than. I might go walk over to the ford dealer (I live behind it).
wish I'd brought those old ujoints with me for reference.

it's just killing me to being so close and not test firing it.

I had to do the same thing on my Doug Nash, The hybrid joint was the same width from cap to cap on both sides (3.5"), but the driveshaft cap diameters were 1.06" and the Doug Nash Caps are 1.18". O'reilly's #448 (Precision brand)

I ended up using two of the old caps that were slightly larger... musta been that hybrid we spoke of.

it's good for now. and g-damn it is really nice to be doing 2100rpms at 65mph as opposed to 3000rpms at 65 mph.
Shame I only got to drive it 10 miles, gotta leave out, won't be back till feb 11th. and I just wanna drive

The ZF Yoke takes a Dana 3550 U-joint. That's got 4 caps, all the same sizes. A Dana 3530 will probably be what you need. That's what I needed to connect the F-350 driveshaft to an F-150 axle. It has 2 difference size caps.
