I don't see any problem with it. Just make sure it's properly supported/secured to the frame along the way. Don't want it to droop or get snagged on anything.

Didn't think rust was an issue out west... Whenever I need to replace the odd Ford plastic lines I just use large sections of steel line with either a flare/fitting or short piece of rubber on the end. I think hard line is superior for the long relatively straight runs, but your plan should be fine.

As for fixing it on the road in the cold/dark/wet... I've done plenty of those over the years and have found splicing in a piece of rubber with a hose clamp on each end is quick and easy.

Measure the tubes. May be able to cut the flares off and use a swagelok adapter.

Teflon hose will last in your low pressure fuel application literally forever. The real benefit to teflon is higher temperature (300 F), so look at all the class 8 compressor outlet hoses and you'll see they run teflon hose there as it's super hot coming out of the compressor, and it's high temperature air, which is the death of anything rubber.

AN connections are aluminum and although the thread fit is technically different, they can and are used to connect to JIC connections, which are industrial hydraulic standard 37 degree connections. You can get them in steel or brass, the stainless adapters can be very expensive. I can never remember if you are closer to Sacramento or San Jose. There's a ParkerStore in both areas, they can hook you up with what you need and crimp the ends on the hose if that's what you are after. They also make field attachable teflon hose fittings, but crimp is much more popular and generally more effective.

If it was me, I'd change the adapters in the ports to get to a JIC connections, but they also make bite type fittings if you want to set a ferrule on some hard tubing. Lots of options, you just gotta figure out how pretty you want it to be.

im going to be running the braided teflon stuff, from summit. oil and fuel line, 300* as well.

just looking for a clean way to attach to the tank.

id like to not modify the sender. and saw what i posted in #22
i will be using the home made stuff style AN fittings.
where you run the nut on the hose and then insert the barb & fitting.

durability and aesthetics are the goal.

^^^^^THIS POST SUCKS^^^^^^no usable info...quite pathetic...no ha ha nadda!

they press right on to the sender.
without a clip.
they have a nylon lock inside it.
and a o-ring.
lube, push on, and it seals! now i can have -6AN fitting to the fuel tank, ZERO hose clamps, ZERO air intrusion...

:***: I think that is a little high? 3500 / 60 seconds / 2 (four stroke) / 8 cylinders works out to each cylinder firing 3.6 times per second at 3500 rpm, no? Moot point anyway... you are right on not wanting tubing to expand.

Gah! Still bad math. -cuss No need to divide by 8. Each cyl fires once every 2 rotations of the crank, regardless of the number of cylinders. Using 3600 (for easy figuring) 3600/60 seconds = 60 rps. 60/ 2 revolutions per squirt = 30.

Don't want to be that guy, but gotta keep the site accurate. ;) ;Poke:angel:
