I know it seems ridiculous for me to ask a question like this, seeing all the work I've done to this truck but.... the tach has not worked since I got the truck ten years ago. I replaced the tach sensor , abs sensor, abs box and still no joy. If I drive at 65-70mph or more for an extended time the abs light will come on , and stay on until I turn the switch off and back on. The speedo works , but bounces approximately by 10 mph + and - . Now I've got something ticking while the vehicle is in motion , and stops when the truck stops. Its not loud , you have to listen close , sounds like its under the dash on the drivers side on under the cab on driver side . I've checked everything I can think of. The cruise control still works , but jumps with the speedo .like accelerates and let's off as the speedo jumps. I can't figure it out . And by the way what's this fipl? I read on here , some people check with issues like this . I'd love to fix the speedo and tach , I've even replaced the whole gauge cluster , still same problems .

If it's auto, you have some problems.
The TCM needs tach and speed to work.

TCM could be bad. Could just be wiring.

Where would I start to look in the wording? I mean , what places are prone to corrosion ?

Addressing the ABS lite. When that lite comes on, it means it has thrown a code, once you shut the Key off, it cancells the code(s), to pull the code(s) the key has to be left ON until the code(s) have been pulled. The VSS sends the speedo the signal, since you've changed the VSS, I would look for corroded connection, starting at the VSS connection and work forward. Do the same if your tach is jumping around. Check for bare/worn wires.

Gotcha, didn't think of that . Tach doesn't work at all , I've replaced the sensor , still no joy . I was thinking there may be something or somewhere prone to failure
