Your speed sensor is located on the top of your rear differetial if the truck we are talking about is the 93 you have in your sig. Wonder if unpluging the harness from the sensor and cycling the key a few times would bring it back down to 0. Don't know for sure, just a thought.

Mine was floating about 3-4 miles per hour when holding a steady spead. replaced the speed sensor and no more floating.

OK, bone head question:
My truck is an 88 F250 IDI: is it the same as later trucks? Location of speed sensor? Still on the rear Dif? Or is it in the tranny .

Thanks,
Revelstoke

I believe it is still on the top of the rear differential but can't swear to it........

Nope... and 88 it would be in the tailhousing of the transmission... the sensor in the rear diff is for the RABS..... it is the later models, OBS I believe that used only the sensor in the rear diff....

On the 88 rig the speed senser in on the tailshaft housing and its at the end of the speedo cable just before it enters the trans. It has a wire plug in it for the power feed. I took mine apart and found it to be kinda like a motor inside. It had a spinning rotor just like an electric motor. Mine was worn so that the bushings gave out long ago. New one installed and that issue was fied easy. Use some die electric grease so the plug connecter says nice and clean... Lots of road salts and water splashing around under there...
