Speakers, amps, ideas and pictures please

I am in the process of amping up..haha.. my stereo gear in my 86 Lariat Ex. Cab. These things are made for concert hall equipment..so much room for amps, mids, subs and so on. Putting some MB Quart separates in the doors now, not real happy with the factory rectangle "half covering the speaker" door grilles. I would love to see some photos of what some of you have done to improve on some of this. These cabs are so large and so much open room there should be some great ideas and installs out there. Years of working on Mustangs and the like have made me "mad for sound" with all this room to work with. I have pounded the forum tonight for info, looking forward to hearing from some of you.

what I have done in my 91 on the doors is the door panel is trimmed about 1/4 to 1/2 in smaller that the od of my grill and I have a grill mounted, Personally If I were to start from scratch I would just put 6x9s in the lower door panel and leave the factory location alone.

MB Quart are fantastic speakers, just great stuff IMHO. I''ve said this before and I'll say it again, a back board or some type of MDF particle board in the doors for better sound, some sound deadening material inside doors to help take out the tin can sound.

I'm sure I've posted pics somewhere of what I'm talking about. Somebody actually suggested the plastic Butcher cut board material instead of MDF, as it wouldn't be affected by the moisture.

As a previous Rockford Fosgate certified car audio installer, I also did lots with Orion, Denon, Kenwood, etc. I've some ability to offer up advice.

Not sure what amps, or head unit you are working with so cannot offer much, just take time, and make sure you mount your speakers securely, use baffle boards, back boards what ever you want to call them to enhance the richness of the sound. Decent speaker wires are good not those puny 18 gua crap. 12 gua is fine.
