10.25 and 10.5 gears will interchange, as well as 10.25 long and short pinion. With 10.5 and 10.25, you have to use the pinion bearings respective to the gearset. With long and short pinion, all you need is the appropriate pinion yoke, the housings are the same.
And, yes, ratios are 3.08 all the way to 7.17 with no carrier split, the 7.17 was a factory ratio, gearsets are long out of production and quite rare, but they do exist.
Just keep in mind if you have a 4x4, unless you have a 44 in the front, gear ratios stop at 3.54.
Damn! so close you could almost taste it!
But if it turned out that you could put a 3.08 gear in a Ford 10.25, you just made my day!
